Mudpuppy

COMPANY HISTORY:

Galison was founded in 1979 to work with museums to make artist imagery widely available in the form of well-designed paper products. Galison first published calendars and a few books before focusing primarily on fine art stationery, boxed notecards, greeting cards, personalized Christmas cards (for individuals and businesses), journals, and other gift products for writers. During this time the company was known as Galison Books or GMG Publishing.

In 1993 Galison introduced Holiday cards and gifts to the product portfolio. Galison’s holiday collection includes Christmas and seasonal cards featuring unique as well as well-known, iconic imagery. This product line is sold at retail as well as custom products for corporations.

Although our products feature contemporary art and design, we maintain a core group of products using fine art images, making Galison and Mudpuppy products very popular in museum stores. Our fine art stationery is also sold at top specialty retailers such as Barnes & Noble, Papyrus, Indigo, Anthropologie, Pottery Barn Kids, Amazon and more. We are also proud to be in fine independent gift and bookstores everywhere.

Over the years, Galison has worked with museums, non-profit organizations, and diverse businesses and corporations to create private label custom products.

The McEvoy Group, a media company based in San Francisco, acquired Galison in March 2012. McEvoy’s other holdings include Chronicle Books, Princeton Architectural Press and Becker & Meyer. In the near future, the goals of the company are to grow significantly with new relationships both with major retailers and major licenses. To that end, Galison launched the Diary of a Wimpy Kid stationery line in 2013 at major stores such as Target, Costco, and Barnes & Noble.
